Yes, it’s easy to record audio from your Sessions call right into a digital audio workstation or through Patchbay for more advanced routing options. To learn more, view:
SESSIONS is a SUBMIX-developed application that offers video calls, multi-screen sharing, broadcast-quality audio, internet MIDI, dedicated mic & audio channels, session scheduling, and more. It allows you to route dedicated, high-quality audio based on your connection. You can send MIDI from your DAW or outboard/hardware gear. Plus, your conversations have dedicated voice channels, so they don’t bleed into your music.
For the most stable performance, we suggest using wired headphones.
Although Bluetooth headphones are compatible with Submix, the macOS Bluetooth system greatly reduces the quality of audio and may introduce artificial artifacts.
Double-check that you have given permission for Submix to access your camera and microphone. These permissions can be found in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
If joining through a web browser, please make sure these permissions are also granted, below are some browser specific help guides:
Sending and receiving MIDI is a great feature built into SESSIONS. To record MIDI from your Sessions call, simply set up a MIDI device within your chosen DAW to receive MIDI from the installed ‘Submix MIDI Receive’ device.
You can invite others to join your session while scheduling it in the Submix app, or during your call. All you need is their email address.
Patchbay
PATCHBAY is a SUBMIX-developed application that enables seamless routing, streaming, recording, and collaboration with uncompressed, broadcast-quality audio in real-time. Its purpose is to facilitate the streaming of audio from any DAW to the following destinations:
- The SUBMIX SESSIONS App
- A SUBMIX SESSIONS web browser
- Another DAW
Make sure your DAW audio output settings are set to one of the audio drivers installed with Submix, for example "Patchbay 16ch". Simply route that feed to a channel in Patchbay (normally Patchbay 1 + 2) to your monitoring device of choice. For more info or helpful tips, see the support videos below:
Occasionally, Patchbay may not show your connected audio interface. Reconnecting the interface and restarting the Patchbay app usually results in it being recognized.
